Jan 27 2001: A massive aid operation for the earthquake victims has been mobilized through the inspiration of Pramukh Swami Maharaj. Today an orchestration of relief work from various BAPS centers is as follows:
BAPS sadhus and 100 trained volunteers have rushed to Bhuj with truckloads of food materials, blankets and other requirements. The BAPS kitchen opened in Bhuj caters to 12,500 homeless citizens and army rescue workers.
The BAPS mandirs at Sarangpur, Bochasan, Mahesana, Gondal and Rajkot have sent the following materials:
2 truckloads of milk powder
4,500 kgs of rice grains
4,000 kgs of wheat flour
3,000 kgs of lentil
1,000 kgs of nutritious sweet item
The BAPS mandir in Rajkot has organized lunch and dinner for 3,000 victims in 5 villages of Morbi district and 2,000 patients and relatives at the local Civil Hospital in Rajkot.
Lunch for 2,000 people has been arranged on a daily basis.
10,000 food packets have been flown from Vadodara to Bhuj.
The BAPS volunteers from Akshardham are providing tea, snacks and dinner to victims and relatives being brought in from Bhuj at the local Civil Hospital.
