The Day is envisioned to provide “an opportunity for individuals, organizations and nations to create practical acts of peace on a shared date.”

BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, London participated once again in Open House London, the capital’s annual festival of architecture. The Mandir joined over 700 buildings, including private homes, commercial and government offices, historical sites, places of worship, educational establishments, and many others in “a celebration of all that is best about the capital’s buildings.”

The Paralympic Torch was welcomed at BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in the London Borough of Brent on the morning of Wednesday 29 August as part of a joyous community celebration.

On 5th August, 2012, BAPS volunteers visited Ngebenyi Primary School in Kilifi.

BAPS volunteers distributed goody bags and made a donation at the CRBRT Hospital in Dar-es-salaam, Tanzania.

To help students and their parents better understand the Australian school system and pathways into tertiary studies, an education seminar was held in Sydney on 28 July 2012.

Traditional Indian bells at BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir joined Big Ben, church bells, doorbells and even bicycle bells from all over the country for a national celebratory performance.

BAPS volunteers visited a children's safety home in Cape Town, South Africa. They distributed blankets and groceries and provided a hot meal for the children in the home.

BAPS volunteers visited the Nungwe Leprosy Camp, nearly two hours away from Dar-es-Salaam. Water and food rations were donated to a hundred families, including some with senior citizens suffering from leprosy.

As an affiliate of the United Nation’s Economic and Social Council, BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha celebrated World Environment Day in the UK with a presentation encouraging efficient water consumption techniques.

On Friday, 25th May 2012 in the morning hours, a ground breaking ceremony took place to pave the construction of a classroom block at Nakivubo primary school, kampala. This new classroom block is being donated by BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha, Uganda, as a charity in support to the education sector.

Inspired by H.H. Pramukh Swami Maharaj, the BAPS Yogiji Maharaj Hospital, Ahmedabad, was inaugurated on Thursday, 17 May 2012, on the occasion of Brahmaswarup Yogiji Maharaj’s 120th birthday celebration.

On 13th May 2012, BAPS sadhus and volunteers visited a Salvation Army orphanage in Dar-es-Salaam,Tanzania.

As part of their vicharan of the Asia Pacific region, Pujya Tyagvallabh Swami and sadhus visited the emerging satsang centers of Bangkok, Thailand (26 April to 2 May) and Singapore (11 to 15 May).

Addressing the walkers, Pujya Tyagvallabh Swami said that the tradition of walking for the good of others began over 200 years ago in the Swaminarayan Sampradaya with the divine pilgrimage of Nilkanth Varni, who walked for seven years across India to inspire spiritual seekers and help people in the community.
